LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has rejected the resignation of PTI leader and Food Minister Hasnain Bahadur Dreshak, ARY News reported on Sunday. In a statement, Pervaiz Elahi said that Dreshak would continue to perform his responsibilities as provincial minister. He praised the PTI lawmaker as a competent minister of his cabinet, saying he was running his ministry in a better way. “Sardar Hasnain Bahadar Dreshak is like Moonis Elahi for me,” he said. The development comes after the PTI announced that Elahi, who was reinstated by the Lahore High Court on Friday, would obtain a vote of confidence from the assembly before Jan 11. Last week, Mr Dreshak resigned from the post after a heated exchange with the chief minister. RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army soldier was martyred and a terrorist killed on early Sunday during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Balochistan’s Zhob, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. According to the military’s media wing, “based on credible intelligence, an operation was launched in Sambaza area of Zhob, to stop terrorists from using few suspected routes to move across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and to sneak into Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), along the interprovincial boundary and target citizens and security forces.” As a result of continuous surveillance and sanitisation of the area, a group of terrorists was intercepted in the early hours today, the ISPR added. LAHORE: A special court on Saturday extended the interim bail of two accused, involved in a case of prohibited funding against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), ARY News reported. As per details, the Banking Court heard the interim bail petition of PTI leaders Tariq Shafi and Mubashir Ahmad in Prohibited funding case and summoned the lawyers to present their arguments. The counsel to PTI leaders told the court that the other accused in this case Hamid Zaman’s bail application is already approved. LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday claimed to have arrested seven terrorists from Lahore belonging to banned outfits from different areas of the province, ARY News reported. According to a CTD spokesperson, the suspects were apprehended during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted across Punjab. Apart from explosives, guns, ammunition and literature pertaining to terror activities were recovered from the seven suspects. ISLAMABAD: The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Sohail Zafar Chattha has asked Islamabad chief commissioner to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe I-10 sector suicide blast, ARY News reported. In a letter written to the chief commissioner, the Islamabad DIG has recommended the formation of an eight-member JIT headed by SSP of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). LAHORE: An accountability court in Lahore on Friday granted interim bail to Suleman Shehbaz, son of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in money laundering case, ARY News reported. Suleman, who returned to Pakistan earlier this month, was granted bail after he filed a petition for pre-arrest bail in the reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in 2020. Suleman Shehbaz moved his interim bail plea through his lawyer, Amjad Pervaiz, before an accountability court. Subsequently, the court granted him interim pre arrest bail till January 7 against surety bonds worth Rs500,000. The court also barred NAB from arresting him.
